About Leslie

Leslie L. Clarke, Ph.D.

Leslie Clarke is passionate about supporting individuals and organizations in envisioning and creating the futures they desire.  Believing that effective interpersonal and organizational relationships are the keys to success in business and communities, Leslie works to connect people with each other, ideas and systems that will produce and sustain the results they want. 

Leslie is the president of Leslie L. Clarke Consulting, which she founded after 20 years of leadership and research with the State of Florida, Department of Health and the University of Florida.  Leslie works with hospitals, scientific firms, non-profit organizations and small businesses.  Currently based in San Diego, California, Leslie offers executive coaching, leadership training, team building and organizational assessment to businesses across the country.

Background

Leslie completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology with specialization in systems change and evaluation research.  She was a faculty member in the College of Medicine at the University of Florida for 14 years.  While directing research in the Department of Health Policy and Epidemiology, Dr. Clarke secured and directed research projects with more than $6 million in federal, state and foundation funding.   She directed many statewide studies of health care and human services programs in Florida and Arkansas, and has worked with international health programs in Asia.

Leslie created and directed the Community Health Improvement Partnership (CHIP), a community-based organization dedicated to health system change and health improvement in Sarasota and surrounding counties in Florida (www.chip4health.org).  Leslie has worked with many non-profit organizations, community foundations and government agencies to design and implement large scale system change and community-based programs that meet challenging community issues. 

Leslie has presented her research and organizational vision to  more than a hundred professional associations, agencies and community groups.  She has published more than 20 articles and book chapters in professional journals and academic texts.
